Moldtech is a custom molder. We don’t sell parts out of a catalog, and we don’t design parts and then shop them around; every automotive component we produce is molded to a specification your team (or your design partner) has already engineered. You own the part design and the tooling. Moldtech’s role is to manufacture it to spec, consistently, at the volume your program requires, and to advise on moldability, material selection, and process along the way when it’s useful.
That distinction matters in automotive sourcing. If your team already has a print, a material callout, or an existing tool you need production support on, we can quote against it directly. If you’re still finalizing the design, our engineers will flag anything that affects moldability, flash, knit line placement, or cycle time before it becomes a tooling problem, but the design decisions, and the tool itself, stay yours.

Overmolding for Automotive Assemblies
When an automotive part needs rubber bonded directly to metal or plastic, Moldtech’s overmolding and bonding process molds the rubber and integrates the substrate in a single step. That eliminates a secondary assembly operation, removes a potential failure point at the bond line, and holds tighter positional tolerance between the rubber and the insert than post-mold assembly typically allows. It’s a common request on automotive programs where a part needs both a rigid mounting interface and a rubber sealing or isolating surface.
Materials for Under-the-Hood and Underbody Conditions
Moldtech works primarily in thermoset elastomers, which hold their shape and sealing force through sustained heat and compression far better than thermoplastic materials over a vehicle’s service life. Material selection depends on where the part lives on the vehicle and what it’s exposed to:
